Introduction to ADC Australian Dental Council
Welcome to Australian Dental Council Exam Preparation Forum
The Forum is form people to know more about the Australian Dental Council Exam.
The Australian Dental Council (ADC) is an independent, not for profit, company limited by guarantee. The ADC has been signed accreditation functions for the dental profession by the Dental Board of Australia (DBA).
It is not a straightforward exam. The Standards and Stakes are really High.
Although, if you prepare well, with Gods grace you can get through.
The ADC has two types of assessment. These are:
- Assessment of the applicant’s educational background, qualifications including testamur and transcripts, work experience and professional standing.
- Assessment by written and practical examination of the applicant’s clinical knowledge, clinical judgment, clinical skills, attitudes and ethics.
First to Explain the exam process.
If you are a General Dentist
Hold a University degree or Diploma with four years full time academy study at a recognised university or an approved qualification.
Full unrestricted registration/ licensure in your country of training. And with no with drawl of registration in the past.
Fist Step to Start
Initial Assessment of Professional Qualification in Dentistry
ADC Australian Dental Council assess your professional qualification as General Dentist, Work Experience, Registration History, Good Standing and other matters to establish your eligibility to proceed with the examination.

|
The applicant must supply one certified colour passport-size photograph that is not older than three months.
|
The photograph is certified according to the guidelines.
|
The applicant must supply a certified copy of a current passport, birth certificate and citizenship certificate where applicable.
|
Verification of name and photograph.
|
A declaration is completed stating that the person applying and all representation within documents are one and the same.
|
The declaration has been completed.
|
Documents bear the correct name and other identifying features
|
The names match the verified qualifications, or documentation has been supplied to support evidence of a name change e.g. marriage certificate.

The applicant is able to demonstrate via certified copies of original qualification and transcripts that they have undertaken the required education and training.
The Standard is met when the applicant has a minimum qualification(s) at the required level that is comparable in duration and content to the nationally agreed minimal education standard for the relevant dental practitioner in Australia.

A general dentist must hold a dental degree or diploma obtained following at least four years equivalent full-time academic study at a recognised higher education provider.
|
Certified copies of testamur and transcripts are in the name of the applicant.
Copies are legible and show all text, letterhead and signatories.
|
A dental hygienist and/or dental therapist must hold a dental hygiene and/or dental therapy qualification obtained following at least two years equivalent full-time study with a recognised provider.
|
Certified copies of testamur and transcripts are in the name of the applicant.
Copies are legible and show all text, letterhead and signatories.
|
Secondary education details must be outlined and indicate language in which the education was delivered.
|
The country, length of study, dates and language are identified.
|
The applicant is able to demonstrate evidence of registration and good conduct as a dental practitioner.
The Standard is met when the applicant is able to demonstrate that they have met registration/licensure requirements and have practiced in a professionally acceptable manner.

|
The applicant must supply evidence of the original and the current registration or licensure in the country from which they currently/last worked.
|
The registration/licensure shows certified evidence of the applicant’s name, date, and a signed statement regarding status e.g. conditions, disciplinary proceedings, other.
|
The applicant must declare their work history for the past five years to demonstrate recency of practice.
|
The work history enabled recency of practice to be assessed.
|
The applicant must list their work experience history and include professional references.
|
The type and breadth of work including duties and responsibilities is assessed and the professional references support claims.
|
The applicant arranges for a letter/certificate of good standing to be issued to the ADC.
|
The letter/certificate is sent directly to the ADC from the current registration authority.
|

Once you finish the assessment. Prepare to full-fill your english requirement .
STEP TWO TO ENGLISH REQUIREMENT
You have two Options
IELTS International English Language Testing System (Academic)
OET Occupational English Test
Both of them have four parts
Listening
Speaking
Writing
Reading
All components must be passed in single sitting.
Candidates must achieve 7.0 bands or above in IELTS (Academic) & A or B grade in OET.
It is valid for two years only.
Before the closing dates for the Written Knowledge and Judgement Exam (previously known as Preliminary Exam). Candidate must hold a valid pass in IELTS (Academic) or OET.
Exemptions given to Candidates completed their secondary education who was taught and assessed from the list of countries below.
If you have completed your tertiary qualification in the relevant discipline were taught and assessed from the list of countries below.

The applicant is able to demonstrate that they meet the English language requirements for the dental profession in Australia.
The Standard is met when the applicant (who did not undertake and complete their secondary education in English and in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom or USA) can demonstrate achievement of the required score in either the IELTS or OET English Language Test.

The applicant can demonstrate English language secondary education in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom or USA.

Documents attest to the applicant’s English language exposure.
|
The applicant must achieve an IELTS (academic) score of 7 in each of the four components.
|
The applicant must achieve this score at a single test sitting and the test must have been completed within the last two years.
|
The applicant has a completion and an overall pass in the OET with grades of A or B only in each of the four components.
|
The applicant must achieve this score at a single test sitting and the test must have been completed within the last two years.

Hold the requisite clinical knowledge, judgement, skills, competency and attributes
The applicant is able to demonstrate that they have the professional ability to perform safely in the role of a dental practitioner in Australia.
The Standard is met when the applicant has successfully completed and passed the written clinical knowledge, judgement, attitudes and ethics examination; and, the clinical practical examination.
